Letter from the Editor

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this letter finds you well and healthy. Hereby I would like to present a report regarding the period 2018-2021 and some perspectives for 2022-2023.

The journal Production mission is to provide an internationally respected stream for original and relevant research related to Operations, Manufacturing, Industrial and Production Engineering and Management. Thanks to the support of ABEPRO (Brazilian Association of Production Engineering) the journal is Open Access and do not charge APC. The journal uses ScholarOne platform and is indexed in SCOPUS, SciELO, Redalyc, EBSCO, DOAJ, among others. Currently the journal has a CiteScore (2020) of 2.2 and is located in the 53rd percentile in the Category “Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering” (https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/7900153109). In 2020, the journal was submitted for consideration at the Web of Science Core Collection.

Currently, our editorial indicators are the following: first message from the Editor to authors in 3 days, first review to authors in 70 days, time from submission to acceptance is 170 days (our target: 150 days), and, finally, time from submission to publication is 204 days (our target: 180 days). The acceptance rate is ca. 20%.

Concerning future perspectives, we are looking for proposals from very experienced researchers to act as associate editors. The proposal should include a research topic/area and a letter of motivation from at least two researchers, one from Brazil and one from abroad. Please send the proposals by email to me.

Besides our regular sections, in 2022 and 2023 we will promote new and relevant thematic sections. One of them is the Thematic Section “Production Engineering leading the Digital Transformation” (details are available in the call). This Thematic Section aims to enhance the leadership of our disciplines in the digital transformation of industry and services, taking different perspectives: Education, Research and Applications. We are also working with other research societies for inviting a global audience to promote thematic sections and submit valuable manuscripts to Production. Other Thematic Sections will be announce in the near future.

The journal belongs to the Production Engineering community and will only evolve with your active participation as reader, author and reviewer.

Thank you very much for your attention,
